As it was an initial meeting, it concluded in a friendly atmosphere with mutual acknowledgment and respect for each other's positions.
Governor Kim San clearly stated that he could not support the relocation of the military airport, having already heard the opposition from Muan residents.
Jung Hyun-gu, Deputy Governor of Muan County, who attended the consultation meeting, described the gathering as “more of a discussion without an agenda,” noting that Governor Kim San's position had not changed.
According to the joint statement released regarding the tripartite meeting, “The governor, mayor, and county governor met on the 29th for the first time in six years and held a three-hour tripartite meeting.”
It continued, “The three recognized the Muan International Airport issue as the foundation for the development of the southwestern region. They expressed and listened to each other's positions on the joint civilian-military airport relocation to Muan, but due to opposition from Muan County, no agreement was reached. They agreed to reconvene in the future to exchange opinions based on the discussions held at the meeting.”
