Expressing Residents' Hopes on Placards... Accelerating Efforts to Attract a Train Stop
On the 29th, Busan's Gijang County Governor Jeong Jongbok visited the Korail headquarters in Daejeon to personally explain the necessity and justification for the KTX-Eum (Cheongnyangni Station to Bujeon Station) to stop in Gijang County, actively seeking to attract a KTX-Eum stop to the area.
At 2 p.m. that day, Governor Jeong met with Korail officials to convey the strong desire of all county residents to host a KTX-Eum station and appealed that Gijang County is the optimal location for the KTX-Eum stop.

He also noted that, as of 2023, the number of Donghae Line users in the area surpasses that of competing stations, and the rapid population influx due to the settlement of new towns such as Jeonggwan, Ilgwang, and Jangansindosi further justifies the need for a KTX-Eum stop in Gijang County.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "Gijang County is already experiencing remarkable growth as a central city of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region," and stressed, "To respond to the large-scale transportation demand within the region, including the Osiria Tourism Complex and the Southeastern Radiation Medical Science Complex, a KTX-Eum stop in Gijang County is not a choice but a necessity."
Gijang County residents are actively participating in efforts to attract a KTX-Eum stop. In 2022, the county already completed a feasibility study for attracting a KTX-Eum station, and in 2023, a petition with 141,000 signatures from residents was directly submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
