Yangsan City Holds Public Contest for Population Policy Ideas
Seeking Solutions to Low Birthrate Issues Together with Citizens
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam is holding the ‘2024 Yangsan City Population Policy Citizen Idea Contest’ to discover innovative and progressive ideas from citizens and reflect them in city administration, aiming to overcome the challenges of low birth rates and an aging society and to create a city that is good for raising children.
The contest period runs from the 29th of this month to August 28, with the application period from August 22 to August 28. Any Yangsan citizen interested in population policy is eligible to participate.
Citizens wishing to participate can download the application form from the ‘2024 Yangsan City Population Policy Citizen Idea Contest’ section in the Notice/Announcement section of the Yangsan City Hall website, fill it out, and submit it via email to the person in charge.
The submitted ideas will undergo an internal review, followed by an online citizen vote on the city website and evaluation by a committee. Prizes will be awarded as follows: Grand Prize (1 person) 500,000 KRW, Excellence Prize (1 person) 200,000 KRW, and Encouragement Prize (8 people) 100,000 KRW each. The selected innovative ideas are expected to be implemented as future policy projects in Yangsan City.
Kang Jeongsuk, Director of the Women and Youth Division, stated, “We hope for the active interest and participation of Yangsan citizens in this contest, which aims to discover creative ideas to overcome the pressing issues of low birth rates and population decline in our time.”
