Gyeonggi Province activated Emergency Level 1 of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 10 a.m. on the 25th.
On the same day, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had disseminated a special directive under the name of Kim Seong-jung, Deputy Governor for Administration, urging active response to prevent casualties caused by the heatwave to each city and county.
Deputy Governor Kim Seong-jung requested ▲ thorough preparedness led by deputy heads of local governments to prevent casualties amid abnormal climate phenomena such as extreme heavy rain followed by continuous heatwaves ▲ strengthening protection activities including checking on the health and safety of vulnerable groups such as elderly people with mobility difficulties by mobilizing all available personnel and resources such as life support workers and local autonomous disaster prevention groups ▲ actively promoting behavioral guidelines such as advising farmers, fishermen, and outdoor workers to refrain from work during daytime using all available media including disaster safety text messages, village broadcasts, and electronic display boards.
Following the expansion of the heatwave advisory, Gyeonggi Province is strengthening preventive measures and preparing for emergency situations in cooperation with cities and counties through six teams and 15 departments responsible for disaster situation management and emergency livelihood stabilization support.
