Five Candidates Including Lawyer Kim Jin-suk Recommended for National Human Rights Commission Chairperson

The Candidate Recommendation Committee (Candidate Committee) for the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission has finalized five candidates for the Human Rights Chairperson, including lawyer Kim Jin-suk of the Barun Law Firm.
On the 23rd, the Candidate Committee announced that it recommended five individuals to President Yoon Seok-yeol, who holds the authority to appoint the chairperson. The candidates include lawyer Kim Jin-suk, Kim Tae-hoon, Chairman of People Making Successful Unification, lawyer Ahn Chang-ho, Advisor at Hwawoo Law Firm, lawyer Jeong Sang-hwan of Jeong Sang-hwan Law Office, and Professor Han Sang-hee of Konkuk University Law School.
The Candidate Committee was organized to reflect opinions from various sectors of society and ensure transparency in the chairperson appointment process. The committee is chaired by Park Yoon-hae, Chief Lawyer at Baeksong Law Firm, and consists of six members, including Kim Min-moon-jung, Executive Director of the Korean Women's Associations United, and Park Young-chul, Representative of the Ulsan Human Rights Movement Solidarity.

The Candidate Committee held its first meeting on the 8th, where it established candidate evaluation criteria and recruitment plans. Following a public call for candidates, the committee conducted document reviews and in-depth Q&A sessions based on candidates' qualifications, expertise, and understanding of the role to select the final candidates.
