Blue Jeans Reborn as Earphone Cases... CJ ENM's Resource Circulation Initiative
CJ ENM is taking the lead in resource circulation efforts such as upcycling using jeans.
On the 23rd, CJ ENM announced that it partnered with the jeans-specialized upcycling brand 'Gisihi' to create various upcycled goods such as cup sleeves and earphone cases using jeans donated by its employees.
The products made in this way will be distributed to employees through an in-house ESG campaign encouraging the use of reusable cups. Additionally, they will be used for giveaways to visitors at 'KCON LA 2024,' which will be held over three days starting from the 26th.
Among the more than 100,000 tons of clothing waste discarded annually in South Korea alone, jeans are particularly identified as a factor polluting the environment. This is because the production process of jeans generates chemicals and wastewater, and incineration produces harmful gases.
A CJ ENM official explained, "Amid unprecedented heatwaves and monsoons caused by the climate crisis, employees' interest and participation in environmental issues are gradually increasing."
