BPA Provides Free Smart Safety Vests at Gamcheon Port West Breakwater CCTV Restoration Site
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) has provided smart safety equipment free of charge at the Gamcheon Port West Breakwater CCTV restoration site to enhance worker safety at small-scale construction sites.
The CCTV at Gamcheon Port West Breakwater was damaged along with other security facilities due to Typhoon Hinnamnor in 2022, and restoration work has been underway since June 3. The worksite involves many tasks performed at heights, which poses a significant risk of fall accidents.
The smart safety vest provided this time is worn over work clothes like a regular safety vest, but it is equipped with an accelerometer sensor and an airbag. If the sensor detects abnormal signs such as a sudden tilt of the worker's body, the built-in airbag automatically inflates to wrap around the worker's neck and upper body, thereby reducing the impact of a fall.
Since 2022, Busan Port Authority has been receiving positive feedback for providing smart safety vests free of charge to small-scale construction sites in order to prevent serious accidents caused by falls.
BPA Construction Headquarters Director Lee Sangkwon said, "Smart safety equipment is greatly helping to prevent safety accidents," and added, "Considering the difficulties in introducing smart safety equipment at small-scale construction sites, we will further expand our support in the future."
