Gokseong-gun Hosts 'Korea Dance Meditation Festival in Gokseong'

From the 26th, a 3-day, 2-night event at Gokseong Moksadong

The nation's only 'Dance Meditation Sound Festival'

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the ‘2024 Korea Dance Meditation Festival in Gokseong’ at Deulmal Center in Moksadong-myeon for three days from the 26th to the 28th.

This event held in Gokseong carries the slogan, “100 friends together with 100 drums, 1,000 sounds, and 10,000 gestures become one heart,” and plans to host about 170 participants. It is organized by Body School and the cooperative Grigokseong, with support from Jeollanam-do and Gokseong-gun.

Over the course of two nights and three days, various programs will unfold, including time for sound and gestures, communication and healing, movement and meditation, and singing about joy, love, and life.

On the first day, the festival will begin with a Daebuk (large drum) performance, followed by a drum circle where various instruments are played together, 9waves, circle dance, mantra sound, and traditional percussion performances.

On the second day, the program continues with Good Morning Dance Club, chakra sound, Sufi dance meditation performance, mantra spinning meditation, hula, handpan performances, and various other performances and dance meditation programs. On the final day, the festival concludes with Mega 9waves, Sufi dance meditation, and a final celebratory performance.

This event is noteworthy for being different from typical local festivals by connecting special content such as ‘dance and meditation’ and ‘sound and gestures’ with the local environment and culture.

Additionally, participants will be offered local food and desserts that allow them to experience the taste and charm of Gokseong with all five senses. The festival is also conducted as an eco-friendly event minimizing waste output, in line with Jeollanam-do’s efforts to create environmentally friendly festivals.

A county official said, “This event is the only dance meditation sound festival in Korea and plans to develop cultural content centered on the Seomjin River, a local resource, focusing on healing, tourism, health, and vitality.”
