Gyeonggi Office of Education Expands Customized Education for Students with Borderline Intelligence
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is operating a 'Customized Learning Support Team' to improve the basic academic skills of students with borderline intellectual functioning.
The Office of Education has formed a learning support team for guiding students with borderline intellectual functioning, consisting of 108 elementary and secondary school teachers and learning counselors from regional basic learning support centers.
The learning support team will directly assist students in need by utilizing elementary workbooks (numeracy, vocabulary, social/emotional) and secondary workbooks (numeracy, social/emotional) developed by the National Basic Academic Skills Support Center.
To strengthen the instructional capabilities of the learning support team, the Office of Education began training sessions for the team on the 16th of this month. Until the 25th, development committee members for each area of the elementary and secondary workbooks have been invited as instructors to conduct remote training on how to use the teaching materials for student guidance.
In the future, the learning support team plans to develop workbooks with guidance methods tailored to different types of students with borderline intellectual functioning in the province and actively serve as regional leaders.
