Cheongsong 'Forest of White Porcelain' Selected for Tourism Hub Project, Secures 5.9 Billion Won
Creation of New Tourism Hub Expected to Revitalize Local Economy
Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province announced on the 16th that its project, "Establishing a Tourism Hub Through Cheongsong Baekja," has been finally selected for the 2024 Regional Development Project (Region-Specific Demand Support Project) hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This public competition project was promoted to respond to the region's population decline and to revitalize the area by utilizing specialized and unique resources for tourism support, creation of local hubs, and improvement of residents' welfare. Cheongsong County was the only area in North Gyeongsang Province to be selected.
The selected project aims to revitalize the Juwangsan Tourist Site through Cheongsong Baekja. The total project scale is 5.9 billion KRW, and the county plans to hold an architectural design competition and complete construction by December 2028.
Specifically, the plan is to establish the "Forest of Baekja" in Cheongsong, which will include one Cheongsong Baekja Exhibition and Experience Hall (630㎡), a Baekja Sculpture Park (990㎡), and a central plaza (2,000㎡), branding Cheongsong Baekja as a tourism attraction and creating a new tourism hub in Cheongsong.
In addition, by linking the project with major tourist sites such as Juwangsan and Jusanji, tourists will be able to enjoy Cheongsong's pristine natural scenery while experiencing Cheongsong Baekja. This is expected to promote Cheongsong's unique cultural and ecological value and attract many visitors.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee said, "With the selection of this public project, we will be able to create a differentiated tourism hub unique to Cheongsong Baekja, which has a 500-year tradition, providing an opportunity for Cheongsong Baekja to continue for the next 500 years. We will do our best to help the Juwangsan Tourist Site grow into a global tourist destination that can revitalize the local economy."
