"Protecting Residents' Safety"... Guro-gu to Install 126 Intelligent CCTV Cameras at 54 Locations This Year
Installation of Intelligent Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and Smart Poles in Crime-Vulnerable Areas and Resident-Requested Locations
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 11th that it is promoting a project to additionally install intelligent closed-circuit television (intelligent selective surveillance CCTV) throughout the neighborhood to protect residents from various crimes and accidents and to manage facility safety.
The district plans to install an additional 126 public CCTV units at 54 locations in crime-vulnerable areas and places requested by residents by October this year. As of June 2024, it currently operates 5,449 units at 1,967 locations.
The specific installation sites include priority areas for CCTV installation within the district based on Seoul City's big data analysis, crime-vulnerable areas requested by the Guro Police Station, and areas where residents have filed requests for CCTV installation to alleviate their concerns.
The newly installed CCTVs will consist of 35 rotating units and 91 fixed units. Along with the CCTVs, smart poles equipped with security lights and an intelligent selective surveillance system featuring artificial intelligence (AI)-based video analysis technology will be installed to enhance monitoring efficiency.
A total budget of 1.22 billion KRW will be invested, including 410 million KRW from the district, 510 million KRW from the city, and 300 million KRW from special local government tax funds.
Additionally, the district plans to separately invest 1.3 billion KRW to replace 680 CCTV cameras that have exceeded their service life, aiming to manage and operate the district's CCTV system more stably and systematically.

A Guro-gu official stated, “We are committed to prioritizing safety 365 days a year to protect the lives and property of our residents,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen the local safety network more thoroughly and do our best to realize ‘Smart Safe City Guro.’”
