Mokpo National University Holds Briefing Session on Establishing Glocal University Regional Cooperation Center
Establishing a Joint Response Strategy for Local Issues to Build a Convergence Platform for Universities and Regional Public Institutions
On the 9th at 2 p.m., Mokpo National University (President Song Ha-cheol) held an explanatory meeting for the establishment of a Regional Cooperation Center in preparation for participating in the Glocal University 30 project at the Education Support Building on the Namak Campus.
According to Mokpo National University on the 11th, various stakeholders inside and outside the university attended the meeting to share the university’s vision and plans for regional cooperation and innovation.
The university emphasized Mokpo National University’s role in leading regional innovation governance in cooperation with public institutions in the Jeonnam region. The core topic was the establishment of a cooperative system through organic linkage among the university, regional public institutions, local governments, and regional industries.

View original imageIm Han-gyu, Director of Industry-Academic Research, stated, “The Mokpo National University Regional Cooperation Center will perform its role as a university-centered education and research collaboration institution, thereby establishing and operating regional innovation governance.”
He also explained, “Through organic connections among the university, local governments, regional industries, and public institutions, we plan to build a Glocal University governance convergence platform and foster close cooperation among innovation demanders, suppliers, and supporters.” He presented a vision to establish a cooperative system for regional economic development and job creation.
During the explanatory meeting, there was a Q&A session regarding the specific roles and feasibility of the research institutions. Attendees engaged in active discussions about the concrete roles the research institutions will perform at the Regional Cooperation Center and practical ways to implement them.
Jeonnam Technopark expressed strong willingness to participate, stating, “If Mokpo National University is selected as a Glocal University, the Regional Cooperation Center discussed today should become the control tower for innovation demand and supply within the region.”
Im Han-gyu, Director of Industry-Academic Research, emphasized, “Mokpo National University will become the center of regional cooperation and lead the development and innovation of the Jeonnam region,” adding, “We hope many institutions will unite their intentions for cooperation through this explanatory meeting.”
