Clear Flute Melody Heals Patients' Hearts at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital
The 17th Ewha Healing Music Concert Successfully Concluded
The clear melody of the flute, filled with the scent of summer, permeated the hearts of patients at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Min Jeong-jun) held the seventeenth performance of the Ihwa Healing Concert, which takes place every second Tuesday of the month to gift patients and their guardians warm memories rather than the pain of treatment.
Under the theme "Summer Scent, Clear Melody," the Ihwa Healing Concert held on July 9 at the hospital's Yeomi Hall featured flutist Lee Hyun-kyung and pianist Choi Han-byeol.
Flutist Lee Hyun-kyung graduated at the top of her class from the ?cole Normale de Musique in France, served as principal flutist of the Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, and currently works as CEO of ?cole de Musique and as music director and flutist of the ?cole de Flute Ensemble Danjam.
Pianist Choi Han-byeol graduated at the top of her class from Chonnam National University’s Department of Music, gained recognition by winning awards at the Honam Arts Festival and the Korean Piano Society Competition, and is currently active as a professional performer.
The first piece of the concert was "Fantasie on Wings of Song" by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, a duo piece frequently performed by flute and piano.
This was followed by "Venetian Festival" by French flutist and composer Paul-Agricole Genin, and "Sicilienne," a work by Gabriel Faure characterized by its soft and lyrical melody.
Patients and guardians attending the concert responded warmly to the clear flute melodies and beautiful piano performance, rewarding the musicians with enthusiastic applause.

The concert concluded with "Regrets and Resolutions" by Gary Schocke, one of the most well-known contemporary flute pieces. Divided into two sections?slow and lyrical, and lively and dynamic?this piece left a strong impression on the audience.
