HD Hyundai Samho, a shipbuilding subsidiary of HD Hyundai, recently expanded its ship berthing facilities in response to the increasing orders for high value-added eco-friendly vessels.
On the 10th, HD Hyundai Samho held the ‘2nd Dolphin Berth Completion Ceremony’ attended by key officials including Myung Chang-hwan, Vice Governor of Jeollanam-do, Park Hong-ryul, Mayor of Mokpo, Woo Seung-hee, County Governor of Yeongam, as well as HD Hyundai Chairman Kwon Oh-gap and President Shin Hyun-dae.
The ‘2nd Dolphin Berth’ is a sturdy pillar structure installed in the sea connected to the road, featuring a protruding design that allows ships to berth on both sides.
The newly completed dolphin berth spans a total length of 530 meters including the connecting road and is equipped with two large cranes to support shipbuilding operations.

Additionally, it can accommodate a total of four ultra-large vessels, two on each side of the berth, enhancing the efficiency of ship operations. With this investment, HD Hyundai Samho’s berth length has increased to a total of 3.6 km, and the number of ships that can be berthed has expanded from 14 to 18.
Through this, HD Hyundai Samho has resolved process bottlenecks and strengthened its capabilities in building eco-friendly ships. It has also reduced cost burdens caused by berth shortages and secured a wider and safer workspace, improving the working environment for employees.
Chairman Kwon Oh-gap, who attended the completion ceremony, stated, “With the completion of the 2nd Dolphin Berth, HD Hyundai Samho has secured additional momentum to lead the eco-friendly ship market,” adding, “We must maximize the construction of high value-added eco-friendly vessels and continue to grow as a core company in the southwestern region.”
