Gwangjin-gu Eases Eyeglass Cost Burden for Visually Impaired People
Providing 80,000 Won Voucher Per Low-Income Visually Impaired Person... Usable at Partner Optical Stores
District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho States, "Reducing Economic Burden and Hoping for a Better Visual Environment"
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will support the purchase of glasses to reduce the economic burden on low-income visually impaired individuals and improve their daily life convenience.
Visually impaired people often need assistive devices such as glasses even if they have some remaining vision. However, due to economic burdens, they often cannot purchase appropriate glasses.
Accordingly, the district secured 8 million KRW through a Seoul city contest and plans to support the purchase of glasses for 80 low-income visually impaired individuals.
The support targets visually impaired individuals who are basic livelihood security recipients or belong to the near-poverty class residing in the area. A voucher worth 80,000 KRW per person will be provided, which can be used to purchase vision correction glasses at opticians partnered with the district. Eligible applicants must prepare an ID card, a visual impairment registration certificate, and income-related documents and apply at their local community service center.
