At the Local Contents Festa awards ceremony held the previous day, hosted by KBC Gwangju Broadcasting, Seo-gu was praised for “presenting a path forward for local governments nationwide through the urban brand ‘Kind City,’ demonstrating creative and innovative administration, and laying the foundation for mutual growth to achieve national balanced development.”
‘Kind City’ Seo-gu raises the banner of its urban brand by implementing kind policies based on the spirit of sharing exemplified by Hoejae Park Gwangok, a symbol of Korean-style noblesse oblige, and the solidarity of the Yangdong Market merchants during the May 18 rice ball movement.
At the Local Contents Festa held on the 21st of last month at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, major local government heads including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, as well as members of the National Assembly, showed great interest in Seo-gu’s kind history and kind policies.
In particular, Seo-gu is promoting ‘Seo-gu-style kind policies’ such as the family care youth allowance, the 1,000-won noodle project that creates jobs and spreads sharing through a single bowl of noodles, and the barefoot road project that enhances resident satisfaction with low budget and high efficiency?initiatives introduced for the first time nationwide.
Additionally, through public-private cooperation coupling projects, Seo-gu is working to eliminate welfare blind spots, and the ‘Oitgil Walking’ event, which practices neighborly love through sharing with just 5,000 won, is gradually expanding as it actively engages residents.
Field-centered communication administration and prompt, accurate, and friendly administration are also among the representative policies of Kind City Seo-gu.
Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, “Each city has competitiveness when it has its own unique brand and expands it into policies, projects, and products. Kind City Seo-gu will grow through ‘sharing’ and create a model where kind people are happy, kind stores prosper, and kind companies succeed.”
