Nong-eochon Gong Jeonnam Headquarters Selected as 'Rural Space Metropolitan Support Agency'

The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (Head: Jo Young-ho) announced on the 10th that it has been selected as the ‘Rural Space Metropolitan Support Agency’ designated by Jeollanam-do.

The ‘Rural Space Metropolitan Support Agency’ is a metropolitan-level institution designated by each provincial governor to support the government’s rural space policies, in accordance with the ‘Act on Rural Space Restructuring and Regeneration Support’ implemented since March.

Before the enforcement of the Rural Space Restructuring Act, the Jeonnam Headquarters was highly evaluated for its experience and expertise by supporting the conclusion of city and county rural agreements, establishing basic and implementation plans, and participating in projects utilizing the Rural Extinction Response Fund.

With this designation, the Jeonnam Headquarters will perform professional support roles to ensure that rural space policies are systematically established and implemented, including ▲supporting the establishment of city and county rural space restructuring and regeneration plans ▲managing and supporting basic rural space support institutions ▲supporting the formation and operation of regional councils ▲and training field experts.

Following the Korea Rural Community Corporation’s selection as the Central Rural Space Support Agency, the designation of the Jeonnam Headquarters as a metropolitan support agency has gained momentum in the early establishment of the government’s rural space policies.

The Jeonnam Headquarters plans to strengthen efforts for customized spatial planning and execution that reflect the unique characteristics of the Jeonnam region by building and operating policy governance involving local governments, intermediary support organizations, and experts, together with the dedicated organization within the corporation, the Regional Development Support Group.

Head Jo Young-ho said, “Now that an institutional foundation has been established for rural areas facing the risk of extinction, this will be the most important time to lay the groundwork for change. We will do our best to make the Jeonnam region a space open to everyone to live, work, and rest by leveraging the experience and technical skills accumulated throughout the history of rural development.”
