Russian Kremlin: "No Hope or Illusions Regarding French General Election Results"
Regarding the unexpected result in the French general election where the left-wing coalition secured the highest number of seats, the Russian Kremlin stated, "We harbor no hopes or illusions."
According to TASS news agency on the 8th (local time), Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, responded to related questions during a briefing by saying, "It would have been better if a political force ready to work towards the restoration of bilateral relations had won in Russia."
He added, "However, currently no one has clearly expressed such political will. Therefore, we harbor no hopes or specific illusions."
Earlier, the French far-right party Rassemblement National (RN), which was considered to be conciliatory towards Russia by advocating for limiting support to Ukraine, initially secured first place in the first round of voting on the 30th of last month but was pushed to third place behind the left-wing coalition New People's Front (NFP) and others in the second round on the 7th.
