Presides Over Division Directors Meeting... "Prepare to Expand to Private Sector Starting Next Year"
Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum urged, "Please strictly adhere to the four-day workweek for employees," on the 8th.
At a bureau and department heads' meeting held at the provincial government office on the 8th, Governor Kim stated, "As discussions on implementing a four-day workweek are actively taking place across society, please gather feedback from participants during the operation process and address any shortcomings," and emphasized, "Do your best so that Chungnam's proactive initiative can yield results and become a model case."
As part of the Himssen Chungnam Full Care Welfare Policy, the province introduced a four-day workweek for employees raising children aged 0 to 2 starting from the 1st. There are 471 eligible employees, who may either work from home one day a week or work four days for 10 hours each and take one day off.
So far, seven cities and counties, including Yesan, Cheongyang, and Gyeryong, are participating, while eight others are still discussing whether to implement the policy.
Governor Kim said, "Since all 15 cities and counties have signed the Himssen Chungnam Full Care Welfare Policy agreement, make sure it is implemented quickly," and added, "If there is a shortage of manpower, utilize retired public officials as part-time workers."
He further stated, "Request cooperation from the Office of Education and the Police Agency, and prepare to expand the policy to the private sector starting next year."
Meanwhile, Chungnam Province is pursuing the Himssen Chungnam Full Care Welfare Policy with the goal of restoring the total fertility rate to 1.0 by 2026, aiming to provide complete care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
