Asan City Establishes 24/7 Disaster Response Task Force
Collection and Dissemination of Disaster Information and Prompt Initial Response
On the 8th, Asan City announced the establishment of the Disaster Situation Operation Team, which newly operates a disaster situation room 24 hours a day with dedicated disaster response personnel.
Previously, the city responded directly to disasters during the daytime through the Safety Management Department, while at night, on weekends, and holidays, disaster duty officers were assigned to manage disaster situations.
However, with the recent increase in various complex disasters such as heavy summer rainfalls caused by abnormal weather, autumn typhoons, sudden winter cold snaps, large-scale fires, and traffic accidents, the need for full-time disaster response specialists has emerged.
Through a recent organizational restructuring, the city established the Disaster Situation Operation Team and assigned four dedicated personnel to build a system in which the disaster situation room operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In particular, the Disaster Situation Operation Team will be responsible for the rapid initial response to disasters by collecting disaster and safety information through a centralized disaster information management system, promptly sharing disaster information with related agencies via the disaster safety communication network, and closely cooperating during emergencies.
Additionally, through the National Disaster Management System (NDMS), the team will focus on establishing a joint response system by sharing and disseminating information with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Chungcheongnam-do, and other relevant organizations to prepare for emergencies.
Mayor Park Kyunggui stated, "Protecting the safety and property of citizens from various disasters is the most important duty of local governments," and added, "We will make Asan City a place that prioritizes citizens' safety by proactively preventing and swiftly responding to disasters through stronger cooperation with Chungcheongnam-do, the police, fire departments, and other related organizations."
