According to Jindo-gun on the 8th, Coach Heo Jeong-moo is a legendary player and coach revered as a hero among football fans. Many people, including Kim Hee-su, the county governor, and other key local figures, attended the event honoring his achievements.

Born in Jindo in 1955, Coach Heo played as a member of the national team at the 1986 Mexico World Cup, raising the status of Korean football on the world stage. In the 2010 South Africa World Cup, he achieved a historic milestone by leading South Korea to the round of 16 in an away World Cup for the first time in Korean football history, a feat that will be remembered forever.
At the event, Coach Heo Jeong-moo expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank Jindo-gun and the Jindo-gun Sports Council for their hard work, and I will continue to do my best for the development of local sports.”
A county official stated, “This bust unveiling ceremony will serve as an opportunity to consider projects honoring the achievements of athletes from Jindo-gun,” and added, “Along with this, by establishing a new department within the Sports Industry Office, we will contribute to revitalizing the local economy through the development of sports facilities in Jindo-gun and the promotion of national tournament events.”
