SKT Strengthens AI Competitiveness Through Technology Collaboration with Singapore's No.1 Telecom Company Singtel
Strengthening the AI Ecosystem and Promoting Service Differentiation
Development of Communication Technologies Including AI Wired and Wireless Infrastructure
SK Telecom is partnering with Singtel, Singapore's leading telecommunications company, to strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) competitiveness through network technology collaboration.
On the 8th, SKT announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Singtel for cooperation on next-generation communication network technologies. Through this collaboration, the companies aim to lead service and technological innovation in mobile networks in the global market.
Both companies are founding members of the 'Global Telco AI Alliance,' a coalition of telecom companies focused on AI. This agreement was signed as an extension of alliance activities aimed at combining telecommunications and AI to not only enhance their own competitiveness but also build an AI ecosystem.
The two companies plan to promote technical discussions and personnel exchanges in various commercial network fields such as mobile network engineering, construction, operation, and solutions.
Additionally, starting with technology exchanges on ▲ application of edge AI infrastructure and research on core network operation technologies for service differentiation ▲ strategies for evolving 5G wired and wireless mobile networks including network slicing ▲ development of 6G use cases ▲ and efficient network construction from an ESG perspective, they plan to expand cooperation to joint development and research.
In particular, edge AI infrastructure is a technology that enhances the value of mobile networks by reducing the computational burden concentrated on the cloud through edge computing and performing AI inference by combining AI solutions. SKT aims to not only jointly promote related technology research with Singtel but also to concretize plans for providing AI services through this collaboration.
Kang Jong-ryeol, SKT's ICT Infra Officer (CSPO), said, "By combining the strengths of both companies, we will achieve results in building efficient high-performance networks, providing stable services, discovering new services based on networks, and developing next-generation communication technologies such as AI wired and wireless infrastructure."
