Police to Conduct Second Investigation of Driver in 'Sicheong Station Accident' Within This Week

The police investigating the 'Siheung Station wrong-way driving accident' are accelerating the investigation by interviewing the driver, Mr. Cha (68), and coordinating the schedule for a second investigation.
On the 7th, the Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul visited Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where Mr. Cha is hospitalized, to check on his health condition.
The police also visited Seoul National University Hospital the previous day to conduct an interview with the suspect and check Mr. Cha's health status.
A police official stated, "We expect to conduct the second investigation around mid-next week."
Mr. Cha has been hospitalized with fractured ribs since the accident and is currently receiving treatment at Seoul National University Hospital.

Earlier, on the 4th, the police visited the hospital where Mr. Cha is admitted and conducted the first suspect investigation. During the first investigation, Mr. Cha claimed that "I pressed the brake at the time of the accident, but it felt hard," asserting sudden unintended acceleration due to a vehicle malfunction.
