According to Seobuk-gu, Cheonan City, on the 6th, last winter, potholes occurred on many roads in the district due to the application of calcium chloride after heavy snowfall, causing significant inconvenience to residents. However, since reports were not made promptly, the district office’s response was inevitably delayed. Learning from this case, a consensus was formed among public officials to proactively identify and address civil complaints related to living environments.
In April, the district office established an SNS channel for all employees at the Seobuk-gu main office and each eup, myeon, and dong, allowing public officials to directly report civil complaints such as potholes, illegal advertisements, illegal garbage dumping, sidewalk damage, and weed removal.
More than 180 employees voluntarily participated in the SNS. The employees acted as voluntary monitors during commuting hours, fieldwork, business trips, and even after work. As a result, over 120 reports on living environment improvements were submitted by June.
Through “Da Hamkke Chaj Chaj Chaj,” once a living environment maintenance issue is reported, the district office immediately contacts the relevant department to ensure prompt action.
By having public officials proactively respond before residents report inconveniences, not only has there been a reduction in civil complaints, but it has also been effective in lowering the incidence of various safety accidents.
Lee Jong-taek, the district mayor, said, “This project provided an opportunity for all Seobuk-gu employees to directly observe and resolve local inconveniences,” adding, “We will continue our efforts to implement administration that satisfies residents.”
