Cheonan City in Chungnam was selected as an A-grade, the highest rating, in the 2023 annual evaluation (Chungcheong and Gangwon regions) of the Higher Vocational Education Hub District (HiVE) project, jointly conducted with Yeonam University and Baekseok Culture University.
Accordingly, an incentive of 180 million KRW was secured, increasing this year's budget for the Higher Vocational Education Hub District project to 2.28 billion KRW.
The consortium of Cheonan City and each university selected the companion animal industry (Yeonam University) and the food service industry (Baekseok Culture University) as specialized fields, opening 22 'youth-specialized' courses such as companion animal manager and trainer certification acquisition, confectionery and bakery technician job courses, and smart agriculture expert training, recruiting 281 people.
By supporting all stages of certification acquisition, the project aims to enhance the job competency of workers, strengthen employment and entrepreneurship capabilities, and promote youth settlement in the region.
