False Posts About 'Exam Time Change' on Online Community
Many Student Inquiries... No Reported Cases of Harm
It has been reported that a current student who posted a false message on the university's online community claiming to have received such a text message was given an F grade in all subjects. According to a university in Incheon on the 4th, the school held a student disciplinary committee last month and decided to assign student A an F grade in all subjects for the first semester.
In April, A posted a false message on the university's online community stating that the midterm exam time had been changed, causing a commotion on campus. The text message was fabricated by A and contained information that the exam time for the basic liberal arts course ‘General Mathematics 1’ had been changed from 6 PM to 4 PM. A also asked, “I saw the message about the exam time change late; is this true?”
Due to A’s false post, the department office received numerous calls from students inquiring about the exam schedule, and the professor in charge quickly posted a notice on the university website stating that the exam would proceed as originally scheduled, causing some disturbance.
However, since A did not send a group text message, it was understood that the actual exam was not affected. A university official stated, “No student missed the exam due to A’s false post,” but added, “Considering that A caused confusion among many students, we decided to assign an F grade in all subjects for the first semester of this year.”
