On the 2nd, during the expanded executive meeting in July, Mayor Lee instructed, "Prepare a formal proposal to attract a Starbucks Reserve Roastery store at the Daejeon Provincial Government Building and submit it officially to Shinsegae."
During a recent official trip to Seattle, USA, Mayor Lee met with Starbucks representatives and suggested, "We are considering offering the recently purchased Daejeon Provincial Government Building to Starbucks. Since it is our building, we can provide it at a low cost for a long term, and it is only 50 meters away from Seongsimdang, which will create a great synergy effect," proposing the attraction of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery store to Daejeon.
The Starbucks Reserve Roastery is a rare store, with only six locations worldwide: Seattle, Chicago, New York in the USA; Tokyo in Japan; Shanghai in China; and Milan in Italy. As a premium specialty store of Starbucks, visitors can enjoy the spectacle of coffee beans being roasted and find unique coffee and merchandise, making it a must-visit spot when visiting those countries.
Mayor Lee plans to revitalize the old downtown area by enhancing synergy with Seongsimdang through the attraction of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery.
