Pohang and Gwangyang JC Strengthen Yeong-Honam Friendship through Mutual Hometown Love Donations
Pohang JC and Gwangyang JC have pledged to cooperate for the mutual development of both regions, which are the first sister cities and steel industry brothers, through reciprocal Hometown Love donations.
This donation commemorates the 42nd anniversary of exchanges between Pohang JC and Gwangyang JC, with the presidents of both organizations supporting regional development by each donating 1 million KRW to the other's region through the Hometown Love Donation program.
The two JCs, as leading youth organizations in Yeongnam and Honam regions where POSCO is located, have maintained a friendly relationship since 1982 to promote goodwill and build a cooperative system between the steel cities. Every year, they continue active exchanges by visiting each other's regions.
On the 29th, about 30 members of Pohang JC visited Gwangyang, held a ceremony for the reciprocal Hometown Love donations at the Gwangyang JC office, participated in various welcoming events, and enjoyed a unity gathering at the Gwangyang National Sports Center.
Na Yunho, president of Gwangyang JC, said, "I am pleased to have this opportunity as a young person in Gwangyang to contribute to the city's development," and added, "Through this reciprocal donation, we will do our best to promote active participation not only from citizens but also from companies located in Gwangyang Steelworks and Pohang Steelworks, for the mutual development of both cities."
An official from Pohang City said, "We hope that young people and the local community will continue to cooperate and grow together in various fields, including the Hometown Love Donation program."
