An active Marine Corps colonel was caught by police after crashing into a parked car while intoxicated and falling asleep inside the vehicle.
On the 27th, Channel A reported that the Mapo Police Station in Seoul had booked Colonel A, affiliated with the 2nd Marine Division, without detention on charges including drunk driving. Earlier, around 3 a.m. on the 22nd, Colonel A was driving under the influence on a road in Mapo-gu, Seoul, when he crashed into a parked car. After the accident, he did not take any action to handle the situation and fell asleep inside his car, later being apprehended by police who responded to a passerby’s report.
At the time, Colonel A’s blood alcohol concentration was reportedly at the license cancellation level. The blood alcohol concentration for license cancellation is 0.08%, and for license suspension, it is 0.03%. The colonel’s wife was seated in the back seat of the vehicle involved in the accident.

The police stated that they plan to transfer the case to the military police soon. The Marine Corps stated, "Colonel A was on leave at the time and is scheduled to remain on leave until the end of this week." They added, "Once the case is transferred, we will take action according to laws and procedures regarding Colonel A."
