The Ethics Committee announced that it has resolved to commence disciplinary action against those suspected of violating party rules and regulations in connection with the election of the chairperson group of the Daejeon City Council.
The individuals suspected of violating party rules and regulations are council members Song In-seok, Lee Sang-rae, Jeong Myeong-guk, Min Gyeong-bae, Lee Jae-gyeong, Jo Won-hwi, Lee Geum-seon, Song Hwal-seop, Ahn Gyeong-ja, and Kim Seon-gwang, totaling 10 members.
Kim Seon-gwang, who ran unopposed as a candidate for chairperson, was included on the list for allegedly leading the process to a deadlock by inducing absence from the second vote without justifiable reason after the first vote was rejected.
The Ethics Committee plans to determine the level of disciplinary action after receiving explanations from these 10 city council members and setting a separate schedule.
On the 26th, the Daejeon City Council held the first plenary session of the 279th extraordinary meeting and conducted a vote of approval or disapproval for candidate Kim Seon-gwang (39, People Power Party, Jung-gu 2). However, with 11 votes in favor and 11 invalid votes, he failed to secure a majority and was rejected.
