Weekend Heavy Rain Over 100mm in Gwangju and Jeonnam
This weekend, heavy monsoon rains of up to 100mm or more are expected in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, strong rain will fall in Gwangju and Jeonnam on the 29th and 30th due to an approaching low-pressure system and the influence of a stationary front. Areas where strong southwesterly winds collide may receive over 100mm of rain, with maximum rainfall forecasted between 30 and 500mm.
Starting from the night of the 29th, winds will strengthen from the West Sea, potentially triggering strong wind and high wave warnings for adjacent coastal and marine areas.
Special caution is required for various disaster accidents such as flooding damage caused by heavy rain and landslides caused by strong winds.
Earlier, rain is also expected between the 27th and 28th. The expected rainfall is 5 to 10mm, with 20 to 60mm along the southern coast of Jeonnam. The rain will briefly stop on the 28th, but due to atmospheric instability, showers of 5 to 40mm may occur in some areas.
