The Hapjeong Public Parking Lot was constructed with a total floor area of 11,511㎡ across 4 above-ground floors and can accommodate 425 vehicles. The city explained that it is the largest public parking lot in the Pyeongtaek area. The city invested a total of 15.7 billion KRW, starting construction in May 2022, and completed the project this month after about two years.
The parking lot is located opposite Pyeongtaek Station on the Gyeongbu Line and Subway Line 1. Accordingly, it is expected to alleviate the shortage of parking spaces in the old downtown area as well as absorb commuting transfer demand.
About 80 people, including Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon, Pyeongtaek City Council Chairman Yoo Seung-young, city and provincial council members, and residents, attended the completion ceremony. Mayor Jeong said, "With the completion of the Hapjeong Public Parking Lot, parking convenience will improve not only for citizens using the local commercial district but also for Pyeongtaek Station users," adding, "We will continue to expand public parking lots in the future."
