Jungnang-gu Conducts Thorough Cleaning of Rainwater Drains in Preparation for the Rainy Season
Cleaning Together with Residents on Major Roads, Traditional Markets, and Specialized Streets
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) conducted a thorough cleaning of storm drains on the 26th in preparation for the summer rainy season ahead.
The purpose was to prevent flooding damage by preemptively maintaining major drainage facilities such as storm drains, which can become clogged with fallen leaves, cigarette butts, and trash.
To this end, the district began full-scale operations early in the morning. Equipment such as specialized suction dredging vehicles for storm drains was deployed on major roads like Dongil-ro and Mangu-ro to carry out intensive cleaning of the storm drains.
Each of the 16 community service centers also designated cleaning sections and engaged in focused cleaning efforts. Local volunteer groups and residents actively participated by tidying the areas around the storm drains and collecting illegally dumped trash.
Local merchants also actively joined the effort to keep Jungnang clean. They voluntarily cleaned storm drains in traditional markets and specialized streets, and thoroughly cleared habitual illegal dumping areas.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi personally visited the Myeonmokbon-dong area that morning and joined residents in sweeping. He meticulously swept a total of 640 meters of side streets and alleys, checking carefully for any neglected hazards or inconveniences.
In addition to the thorough cleaning, the district plans to continuously deploy manpower and equipment to manage the cleanliness of storm drains and their surroundings.
