Honam University Selected as Operating Institution for 'Chengdu 2 Sejong Institute' in Sichuan, China
Honam University has been selected for the 2024 new public offering project by the King Sejong Institute Foundation and will operate the Chengdu 2 King Sejong Institute located in Sichuan Province, China.
Honam University will proceed with follow-up procedures such as a business consignment contract with the King Sejong Institute Foundation by July, conduct a pilot operation by the end of the year, and officially operate the Chengdu 2 King Sejong Institute starting next year. Chengdu, the operation area of the Chengdu 2 King Sejong Institute, is an international metropolis that has engaged in various exchanges and cooperation with Korea in the fields of economy and trade, tourism, medical care, education, culture, sports, and arts.
The King Sejong Institute Foundation will support operating expenses for the efficient operation of the Chengdu 2 King Sejong Institute by considering factors such as the size of the institute, local living costs, and wage levels. It plans to establish a foundation for the spread of the Korean language and Korean culture through providing various scholarship opportunities, supporting specialized programs for each institute, and dispatching professional Korean language teachers.

Honam University plans to provide high-quality language and cultural education at the Chengdu 2 King Sejong Institute in cooperation with Sichuan Tourism University. Sichuan Tourism University has about 10,000 enrolled students, and approximately 2,000 graduates annually work in service and management roles in food and beverage, hotels, travel agencies, and other sectors in major Chinese cities.
