Yongin's 18 Public Libraries Open Reading Classes and Vacation Special Lectures for Elementary Students
Operation from July 29 to August 24
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is operating reading classes and special summer vacation lectures for elementary school students at 18 public libraries.
The reading classes will be held from July 29 to August 24 at Yongin Central, Pogok, Dongbaek, Mohyeon, Cheongdeok, Namsa, Yangji Haemil, Idong Kkumteul, Giheung, Guseong, Heungdeok, Bora, Seonong, Yeongdeok, Suji, Jukjeon, Sanghyeon, and Seongbok libraries.
In the reading classes, children read books on various themes and develop literacy skills through post-reading activities and discussions. Separate programs are operated for lower and upper grade students.
Each library has also prepared special lectures to foster students' creativity and imagination. The Central Library offers 'Coding with Blocks' for 4th to 6th graders. This program helps children understand scientific principles through blocks and realize ideas through coding. Pogok Library will hold 'World Civilizations through Myths' (grades 1-2) and 'The Roman Empire in Depth! Fun World History' (grades 3-5).
Namsa Library has prepared 'Namsa News Desk' (grades 1-2), where children experience news production by exploring history, novels, and current events, and 'Sound Magician Voice Actor' (grades 3-5), where they learn about and experience the profession of voice acting. Guseong Library offers 'World Landmark Tour through Architecture' (grades 1-2), Heungdeok Library offers 'I am a Great Perfumer' (grades 1-2), and Bora Library offers 'Soft Brain Training' (grades 3-4).
Suji Library has prepared 'My Summer Unfolded by Classical Music' (grades 3-4), where children listen to classical music, reflect inwardly, and learn how to express their feelings through integrated writing.
Additionally, special lectures such as 'World Continent Avengers' (grades 3-4) at Jukjeon Library, 'Stories of the Joseon Dynasty' (grades 3-4) at Sanghyeon Library, and 'The Library is a Science Playground' (grades 1-2) at Seongbok Library are also prepared.
