Gijang County Distributes 'Road Name Address SOS Stickers' to Prepare Single-Person Households for Emergencies
Support for Quick Response for Single-Person Households Aged 60 and Over
Improved Use of Emergency Contacts and Underlying Disease Information in Emergencies
Gijang County in Busan (County Governor Jung Jongbok) is implementing a project to distribute 'Road Name Address SOS Stickers' for single-person households aged 60 and over in preparation for emergency situations.
The 'Road Name Address SOS Sticker' was created to help elderly people living alone easily communicate their location and receive appropriate emergency assistance in case of emergencies such as fires or falls, especially when they may be too flustered to recall their home address.
The sticker measures 22 cm wide and 17.5 cm high and is made in a magnetic form so it can be easily attached and removed from visible places such as the inside of the front door or the refrigerator.
In addition to the road name address, the sticker also includes the emergency contact information of a guardian, blood type, underlying medical conditions, and primary medical facility, so that emergency responders can use it as a reference for first aid if needed.
The county is distributing the stickers through related organizations such as local senior welfare centers, home care agencies, and senior clubs, in cooperation with the Gijang County Community Security Council. When distributing the stickers, face-to-face guidance is provided to help elderly people living alone use the stickers properly, including assisting with address entry.
In particular, the county is linking the sticker distribution with various home visit projects, requesting cooperation so that life support workers from the senior customized care service project at the senior welfare center can assist in filling out and attaching the stickers when visiting the homes of elderly people living alone.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "I hope that elderly people who are vulnerable in emergency situations will find the Road Name Address SOS Sticker for single-person households useful and that it will help protect their safety in times of crisis."
