Kim Hee-seop, Professor at Kyungpook National University, Appointed as Director of the National Library of Korea
Yoo In-chon "Expecting Innovation in Next-Generation Library Services"
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Professor Kim Hee-seop of the Department of Library and Information Science at Kyungpook National University as the Director of the National Library of Korea on the 24th. The term of office is two years.
Director Kim is a former senior researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). Since 2014, he has been serving as a professor in the Department of Library and Information Science at Kyungpook National University, dedicating himself to digital education innovation and fostering convergence and interdisciplinary talents. In particular, as an information engineering expert holding a patent on Korean language information retrieval, he has consistently conducted research in digital libraries and information processing. He has also contributed to the standardization and advancement of records management by serving as a member of the National Records Management Standards Committee and as a technical committee member for library information (TC46) at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "Based on his expertise in digital information technology and libraries, he is the right person to strengthen the role of the National Library of Korea," and added, "We expect him to contribute to the next-generation service innovation of libraries in the Republic of Korea."
