Gyeonggi Fire Department Conducts 'School Fire Facility Inspections and Staff Fire Education' Over July and August
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct fire facility inspections and fire safety education for school staff at 2,670 schools across the province over the two months of July and August.
First, the fire safety special investigation team from the local fire stations and private fire facility management companies will verify on-site whether fire facilities are functioning properly and check the condition of evacuation fire prevention facilities such as fire shutters. Additionally, the head of the local 119 Safety Center will educate school staff on the duties of the self-fire brigade during fire incidents and on safely guiding student evacuation.
In particular, during the two-week summer vacation, a sample survey will be conducted on the 2,670 schools in the province to check for false or inadequate self-inspections of fire facilities. At school construction sites, inspections will be carried out on the installation of temporary fire facilities, compliance with safety regulations during welding and cutting work, and the deployment of fire watchers.
Jo Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "We will create a safe educational environment free from fire hazards by strengthening fire safety management, including checking fire facilities during the summer vacation period." He added, "We will do our best to ensure that both staff and students can live in a joyful and safe environment."
