Convenience store Emart24 has entered Cambodia for the first time as a Korean convenience store.
Emart24 announced on the 23rd that it opened its first store in Cambodia, Emart24 Cambodia Store No.1 (hereinafter BKK Store No.1), on the 21st in Boeng Keng Kong, Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, in partnership with the local Cambodian corporation Saihan Partners. Boeng Keng Kong is the busiest area in Cambodia and is also called the Myeongdong street of Phnom Penh. Emart24 expects to promote its brand not only to Cambodian locals but also to tourists from around the world.

The store sells representative Korean street foods such as tteokbokki, cupbap, hot dogs, and fish cakes, and has installed a self-ramen cooker so customers can cook ramen by themselves.
Emart24 plans to establish its position as a convenience store that functions as both a restaurant and a cafe by selling various coffee beverages and bakery products. On the opening day, a K-food tasting event was also held. Emart24 reported that about 1,000 people visited the store that day, including many young people and family customers in the evening.

Instead of directly entering Cambodia, Emart24 chose a master franchise method in which the local company Saihan Partners sells business operation rights to those who wish to franchise. Emart24 explained that this entry method has the advantage of continuously earning royalty income without a large investment cost and smoothly proceeding with procedures that domestic operators cannot accurately grasp, such as market trends, legal disputes, and commercial area analysis in the target country.
