The Water Quality Environment Conservation Association is a regional governance in which watershed members collaborate to manage water quality in order to overcome the limitations of water quality management by reservoir managers of the Rural Community Corporation.
This year, Manbong Reservoir, managed by the Naju Branch, was selected as a representative pilot district of the Jeonnam region, and the Water Quality Environment Conservation Association event was promoted.
At this meeting, time was shared to discuss the purpose and operational direction of the Water Quality Environment Conservation Association and the current water quality status of Manbong Reservoir. Various stakeholders freely exchanged opinions to establish role assignments for each committee member to manage and improve the water quality of Manbong Reservoir.
Following this, branch employees and students from Chonnam National University (the main institution of the Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center) conducted a joint environmental cleanup event at Manbong Reservoir to contribute to creating a clean environment.
Kang Su-jin, Branch Manager of Naju, said, “Although water pollution incidents have increased recently due to abnormal climate conditions, the corporation is striving to manage water quality through monitoring activities and water quality surveys. We will do our best to supply clear and clean agricultural water through focused management of upstream pollution sources via regional governance.”
