Kim Dong-yeon, "GTX Plus" Win-Win Cooperation at the National Assembly on the 20th... "Expecting Triple Benefits"
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon promised mutual cooperation to promote the ‘GTX (Great Train Express) Plus’ initiative at the first debate of the 22nd National Assembly hosted by Gyeonggi Province, emphasizing that the 1-seat 3-trillion won effect of GTX Plus will enhance South Korea’s national competitiveness and growth potential.
At the ‘GTX Plus Mutual Cooperation Agreement Ceremony and National Assembly Debate’ held on the 20th at the National Assembly Library Auditorium, Governor Kim said, "GTX was first proposed by Gyeonggi Province in 2009. We are witnessing the reality where an enormous budget, project expansion, and various dreams have been realized compared to the original proposal," adding, "By proposing GTX Plus today, Gyeonggi Province once again launches a signal for change, just like 15 years ago."
He continued, "The G line will allow entry from Pocheon to Seoul Gangnam and Nonhyeon in just 30 minutes, and it will take 43 minutes to reach KTX Gwangmyeong Station from Pocheon," explaining, "The H line will connect Paju to Wirye in about 40 minutes, and if the C line is extended, travel time from Oido to Samsung Station will be reduced by about half to 47 minutes."
He then presented the 1-seat 3-trillion won effect of GTX Plus as ▲giving residents an extra hour of commuting time per day as promised ▲providing an opportunity to further enhance the potential and competitiveness of the northern and southwestern regions of Gyeonggi Province, especially the northern part ▲dispersing Seoul’s gravitational pull to promote balanced development of the metropolitan area and, further, balanced national land development in South Korea, and ▲serving as a decisive turning point to boost South Korea’s national competitiveness and growth potential.
Governor Kim said, "This agreement ceremony today, where members gathered regardless of party, region, ideology, or party color, is truly a symbol of people-centered cooperation," and added, "As the first collaboration of the 22nd National Assembly, I would appreciate it if we could work together to ensure that the plans made so far proceed without setbacks."
The agreement signed that day includes a commitment for mutual cooperation among National Assembly members and local government heads from the regions through which the GTX Plus lines pass, to jointly strive for the inclusion of the project in the 5th National Railroad Network Plan.
GTX Plus is Governor Kim Dong-yeon’s key pledge to establish new GTX lines in areas that have not benefited from the existing GTX lines, thereby expanding the beneficiary regions.
Through the establishment of the G and H lines and the extension of the C line to Oido, the plan aims to expand GTX service areas to the northern and southwestern parts of Gyeonggi Province, connecting the entire metropolitan area into an average 30-minute living zone.
