On the 19th, Gyeonggi Province signed a business agreement with the Korea Racing Authority and the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross at Banryeomaru Yeoju for the 'Abandoned and Companion Animal Supplies Support Project,' and announced on the 20th that they will cooperate to support pet care for vulnerable households and promote the adoption of abandoned animals.
According to the agreement, the Korea Racing Authority and the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross will provide adoption supply kits to those who adopt abandoned animals from directly managed or commissioned animal protection centers within the province. They will also support companion animal supply kits to vulnerable households that are raising pets but facing difficulties.
The companion and adoption animal supply kits are worth approximately 100,000 KRW and consist of products necessary for pet care.
The adoption supply kits include food and water bowls, potty pads, and portable protective carriers, while the companion animal supply kits contain six items such as animal shampoo, deodorizer, ointment, and cream. The Korea Racing Authority and the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross will support a total of 950 sets this year, including 550 adoption supply kits and 400 companion animal supply kits.
Previously, after conducting a demand survey with city and county animal welfare departments and animal protection centers, Gyeonggi Province will deliver the supplies to households in need through these departments and centers starting in July.
