Gumi City Central Library Launches AI Book Recommendation Kiosk
AI and Big Data Offer Reading Experiences
Expansion of Personalized Book Recommendation Services
Gumi City Central Library is currently operating the 'Fly Book AI Recommendation Kiosk,' which recommends books from various fields based on AI analysis according to gender and age.
The 'Fly Book AI Recommendation Kiosk' suggests books that are suitable to read now, based on basic information such as the user's age, gender, and emotional state, analyzed by AI to match their situation and preferences.
By providing the librarian-recommended books section, which was previously available only on the website, through AI and big data, citizens can now experience advanced technology firsthand. The library plans to decide whether to continue operating the kiosk after a one-year pilot period, depending on its usage.
Book information for titles recommended through the kiosk can be checked directly on the kiosk, and users can also receive the book information via SMS. This is expected to increase user satisfaction and boost book lending at the library.
The AI book recommendation service is also available on the integrated website of Gumi City Library and can be accessed on mobile devices as well. Detailed usage instructions can be found on the library website.
Lee Seonim, Director of Gumi City Central Library, said, "We have launched the pilot operation of the kiosk in order to improve public services at the library by utilizing AI and big data," and added, "We will continue to explore ways to use AI and big data to expand reading culture through new library services."
