Park Gang-su, District Mayor: "Mapo-gu Pet Camping Site, a Complex Leisure Space Leading Korea's Pet Culture"
The special space that will establish Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) as the number one 'Pet Zone' and the happiest city for companion animals in Korea will finally be unveiled on the 22nd. It is the newly created 2,863㎡ ‘Companion Animal Camping Site’ in Nanji Hangang Park, Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu.
With the number of households raising companion animals in Seoul surpassing 1.31 million, companion animals have become family members rather than just pets. Accordingly, Mapo-gu has accelerated the promotion of the companion animal camping site since last year, aiming to become a companion animal-friendly city directly linked to the happiness and satisfaction of its residents' lives.
The Mapo-gu companion animal camping site is differentiated from existing companion animal playgrounds by pursuing a space that offers high-quality leisure and specialized services enjoyed together with companion animals.
It features a spacious area divided for small and large dogs to play safely, drinking fountains, an animal shower facility, and a behavior counseling room where dog behavior correction and pet etiquette education are conducted.
Above all, this place offers a special experience of enjoying camping in the city with companion dogs. It operates a camping deck where visitors can camp while overlooking the Hangang River with their dogs, along with a service that rents camping equipment such as tents and mats.
The district will hold an opening ceremony for the companion animal camping site (482-179 Sangam-dong) at 1 p.m. on the 22nd and welcome its first visitors.
In addition to the opening celebration event with Mayor Park Gang-su and families accompanied by companion animals, the district has prepared various events on the main stage that can be enjoyed with companion animals, including ▲“Wait King” contest ▲Godzilla contest ▲talent show ▲raffle draw.
There will also be experience booths such as ▲companion animal photo contest ▲dog photo zone ▲making tug toys ▲keyring making, along with ▲companion animal behavior counseling ▲pet etiquette promotion.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “Companion animals currently have a significant influence not only on individual lives but also on the overall economy and industry of Korea,” and explained, “The Mapo-gu companion animal camping site is a complex space that leads this trend, where various companion animal contents such as leisure, convenience, culture, and education can be enjoyed in one place.”
