Yongsan-gu to Hold College Admission Symposium at Yongsan Art Hall Small Theater from 6 PM on the 19th
Discussing Expanded Non-Major Selection, Career Exploration, and School Life in Preparation for 2028 College Entrance Reform
Supporting Adaptation to Changing University Admission Systems
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold an academic symposium titled "2024 Yongsan Academic Guidance" at 6 p.m. on the 19th at the Yongsan-gu Office Art Hall Small Theater.
The district prepared this symposium to help local students prepare for the changing university admission system.
The event will last about three hours under the theme of "Expansion of Non-Major Selection, Career Exploration in Preparation for the 2028 College Admission Reform, and School Life."
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Kwon Oh-hyun (Emeritus Professor at Seoul National University College of Education, former Director of Admissions Headquarters).
Following this, Education Researcher Song Chi-kyung (Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Research and Information Center) and Career and Academic Affairs Head Ha Sung-wook (Osan High School) will present on changes in the high school curriculum and academic evaluation.
Afterwards, Im Jin-taek, Head of the Admissions Officer Team (Kyung Hee University), and Kwon Young-shin, Director of the Admissions Office (Sungkyunkwan University), will explain changes in college admission screening and evaluation criteria according to the 2028 reform plan.
The symposium will conclude with a Q&A session for participants. It is designed as a communication platform to resolve questions about college admission issues.
Participants were pre-registered targeting Yongsan-gu residents including ▲high school students and examinees ▲parents of middle and high school students ▲high school students and teachers at schools located in Yongsan-gu ▲and parents of middle and high school students.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "We aim to reduce private education expenses in this era of high living costs by providing customized college admission guidance and academic programs tailored by timing and target groups," adding, "We will continue to strive to make Yongsan an educational city preparing for the future."
The district will operate a "2025 Early Admission Application Strategy Special Lecture" and "2025 Early Admission 1:1 Strategy Consulting" for examinees in preparation for the 2025 academic year early admission starting in July. In May, it held events such as the "2025 College Admission Briefing," "2024 College Admission Competency Enhancement Special Lecture," and "Visiting Yongsan Academic Guidance."
