The police have launched an investigation after receiving a terror threat claiming that a bomb was planted at Pusan National University.
On the 14th, the Geumjeong Police Station in Busan announced that they received a report of a terror threat email stating that an explosive device had been planted and would be detonated at Pusan National University, and they began a search. The email was sent around 10 a.m. that day and did not specify the exact location where the bomb was planted.
The email reportedly contained claims that bombs had been planted not only at Pusan National University but also at public institutions and universities nationwide. After receiving the report, the police relayed the bomb threat information to Pusan National University and conducted a search of the entire building. No explosives have been found so far, and a police official stated, "We are conducting a search for explosives and intensive patrols throughout all buildings of Pusan National University."

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that threatening emails claiming bombs were planted at universities and public institutions have been sent. In August of last year, emails claiming that explosives had been planted at universities nationwide including Seoul National University, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and Busan City Hall were sent, prompting police investigations. In September of the same year, a man in his 20s who posted false claims about planting a bomb at Chungnam National University was fined in an appellate court.
