According to Jeju Maritime Police on the 14th, the meeting held in the conference room the day before was attended by representatives and workers from 11 water leisure business sites in the jurisdiction.
The meeting provided preliminary safety prevention education on water leisure safety management measures and business operators' compliance requirements, and listened to difficulties encountered while operating water leisure businesses.
In particular, in the event of coastal accidents, due to the nature of water leisure activities mainly conducted at sea, prompt initial response greatly aids rescue operations, making the cooperative rescue system with water leisure businesses important.
Additionally, they shared a case where, in 2023, water leisure business operators in the Jeju area received the Life Respect Award in the general public category for rescuing lives during a drifting accident, thereby establishing a close safety management cooperation relationship between water leisure companies and Jeju Maritime Police in responding to coastal accidents.
A Jeju Maritime Police official stated, “In line with the increase in water leisure participants during the summer peak season, we gathered various opinions through a communication platform for water leisure stakeholders to promote accident prevention and safety awareness. We will do our best to manage water leisure safety during the peak season by establishing a continuous and close cooperative system among businesses.”
