Assuming each donation is 500㎖ (based on plasma volume), his total donated blood amounts to 66,500㎖. This exceeds the total blood volume of 13 healthy adults.
Believing that his blood helps others, Kim quit drinking and smoking to ensure he donates clean blood. He said, "I quit drinking and smoking for blood donation and try to maintain my health by exercising three times a week."
In fact, Kim's blood donations have been valuable to people around him who needed blood. Upon hearing that a relative of a friend battling cancer and a family member of a school professor urgently needed blood, he readily gave them blood donation certificates.
As his number of donations increased, he received blood donation awards. He was awarded the Silver Medal at 30 donations, the Gold Medal at 50 donations, and the Honorary Medal at 100 donations, receiving a total of three awards.
He stated, "Blood donation is a volunteer activity that can be easily practiced and is rewarding because it helps save lives. Since blood donation is possible until the age of 69, I plan to continue donating steadily as I do now."
Meanwhile, EcoPro is conducting blood donation campaigns as part of its social contribution efforts. Since 2017, EcoPro Group employees have donated blood a total of 1,126 times. They have continued blood donation volunteer work even during the summer months when blood supply is low, by holding in-house blood donation campaigns in June and August.
