Gokseong-gun Hosts Gokseong Unification National Comprehensive Arts Exhibition

Two-Day Nationwide Competition with Over 700 Participants at Gokseong Leisure Culture Center on the 15th-16th

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the "11th Gokseong National Unification Comprehensive Arts Competition" will be held for two days from the 15th to the 16th at the Gokseong Leisure Culture Center.

The Gokseong National Unification Comprehensive Arts Competition is a nationwide contest hosted and organized by the Korea Traditional Culture and Arts Association, and supported by Gokseong-gun, Gokseong County Council, Ministry of Unification, Ministry of Education, Jeollanam-do, Jeollanam-do Office of Education, Gokseong Office of Education, and the Gwangju Branch of the Korean Gugak Association.

With a total of about 700 participants, the event will begin on the 15th, and the honored winners will be decided on the final comprehensive stage on the following day, the 16th. In particular, a special North-South arts performance is planned for 5 p.m. on the 16th.

The competition will be held in seven categories including Pansori, traditional dance, Gobeop, and North Korean arts, divided into master, general, rookie, and student divisions. Especially, creative works themed on democracy and peaceful unification will receive additional points.

The grand prize in the master division for Korean traditional music will be awarded the Chairman’s Award of the National Unification Advisory Council, and in the student division, awards such as the Minister of Education Award, Speaker of the National Assembly Award, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award will be presented.

A county official stated, “The Gokseong National Unification Comprehensive Arts Competition aims to commemorate the artistic spirit of Pansori master Jang Pang-gae and percussionist Kim Myung-hwan, who are the pride of our county, and to confirm the vision of unification culture and arts,” adding, “We hope this event will be a good opportunity to enhance the cultural and artistic brand value of Gokseong-gun.”
