Prime Minister Han Duck-soo: "Focused Nurturing of Startups in 'Top 10 New Industries' Including Semiconductors, AI, and Aerospace"
Saneun·MuHyup Startup Fair 'NextRise 2024, Seoul' Opens
On the 13th, KDB Industrial Bank and the Korea International Trade Association opened 'NextRise 2024, Seoul,' the largest domestic global startup fair, at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
Kim Bok-gyu, Senior Vice President of KDB Industrial Bank, said in his opening remarks, "We believe that the competitiveness of startups is the competitiveness of the nation, and we will spare no support to revitalize the venture ecosystem." He added, "NextRise will be an opportunity for startups to meet the market, connect with investors, and advance to the global stage."
Now in its 6th year, NextRise is being held on the largest scale ever. There are over 500 startup exhibition booths, independent booths of domestic and international large corporations and related organizations such as LG, Korea Creative Content Agency, GS Energy, AWS, and BMW, as well as various programs including conferences and investor relations (IR) pitching sessions. Additionally, 218 domestic and international large and medium-sized enterprises, venture capitalists (VCs), and over 880 startups will conduct more than 3,600 investment and business cooperation consultations.

Meanwhile, Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister, who attended the opening ceremony, stated in his congratulatory speech, "We will do our utmost to support competitive companies to grow into global unicorns (unlisted companies valued at over 1 trillion won). In particular, we will focus on nurturing startups with a super-gap in 10 new industries leading the global market, such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and aerospace." He added, "We will abolish regulations that hinder market entry and corporate growth, and further strengthen support for technology development and global research and development (R&D) programs."
